New Year Cheer as Fund Raising Target is Achieved

The Ramsbottom War Memorial Team are pleased to announce that their fundraising target of £50K to replace the existing war memorial, in the gardens outside St Paul's Church in Ramsbottom town centre, has been achieved.

With the fund now standing at £50,600 the team are now starting the design stages with the help of and architect and Rawson's Monumental Masons in Bury. It is planned that the new memorial, which will be engraved with the names of the fallen from Ramsbottom and surrounding villages, will be in place before this year's annual Remembrance Sunday Parade, the centenary of the end of WW1.

A list of names that are eligible to be engraved on the new memorial can be found at the Rose & Crown, Carr St., Ramsbottom, also at Ramsbottom Royal British Legion and Ramsbottom Library.

The team will also be holding information events at local supermarkets over the coming weeks so that the public can view the names and ask questions.

Fundraising will continue for a short while to enable a contingency fund to be put in place and also allow the web site to continue functioning for years to come.
